🖥 Part of Guard Family · Windows & Mac

The parental control
your child cannot switch off.

Guard Desktop runs silently on your child's Windows PC or Mac and connects to your phone in 30 seconds. Block any app or website, see how long they spend on each one, and cut internet at bedtime — all without touching their computer.

// The problem with other tools

Most parental controls
have one big problem.

Your child is smarter than you think — and most tools assume they're not.

Bark & monitoring-only tools
🔔

They alert — after it's happened

Monitoring tools notify you when harmful content is found. That means your child already saw it. Layers Guard blocks before they ever get there.

Google Family Link
🚪

Teenagers can just turn it off

Once a child turns 13, they can disable Family Link supervision themselves. Layers Guard installs silently on the PC and requires your PIN to quit — even from the tray icon.

Circle, Qustodio, others
💸

$8–$14 every single month

The industry average is $100+ per year, forever. Guard Family is $59 once — covers every Guard app for your whole family, Android, Windows and Mac. No annual renewals, no tiers.

// What Layers Guard does

Real blocking.
Real control.

Six tools that cover every way a child tries to get around limits — managed from your phone, enforced on their PC.

📱

Control from anywhere

Open your phone, see what your child is doing right now, and block any app or website in two taps. You never need to touch their PC again after the first setup.

🚫

Block apps, not just websites

Most filters only block browser traffic. Guard Desktop stops blocked apps completely — Steam, Discord, Roblox, games — the moment they open. No loopholes.

Apps close instantly
🌐

Block websites across every browser

Sites are blocked everywhere — not just in one browser. Switching to Firefox, Edge, or a private window makes no difference.

Works in any browser
🥧

See exactly how they spend their time

Your dashboard shows which apps your child used and for how long. Colour-coded bars make it easy to spot patterns at a glance.

🌙

Bedtime means bedtime

Set a start and end time. At bedtime, all internet shuts off — not just the browser. Every app, every site. Automatically, every night.

🔒

Your child can't turn it off

Guard Desktop starts automatically, runs silently, and requires your PIN to quit. There's no settings screen, no off switch, nothing for your child to tinker with.

PIN-protected · Always running
// Setup in under two minutes

Three steps.
That's it.

No router configuration. No IT knowledge required. If you can scan a QR code, you can set this up.

01

Install the agent on their computer

Download and run the Guard Desktop agent on your child's Windows PC or Mac. It installs silently, adds itself to startup, and shows a pairing code on screen.

Windows 10/11 · Mac (coming soon)
02

Pair from your Android phone

Install the Layers Guard Controller app on your phone. Scan the QR code or type the 6-character code. The two devices link instantly via the cloud.

Android 8 or later
03

Set your rules and walk away

Add blocked sites, set screen time limits, configure bedtime hours. Every rule syncs to the PC in seconds. You're done — it runs itself from here.

See everything.
At a glance.

No digging through logs. The dashboard shows you what matters in seconds — whether your child is online, what they're running, and where today's time went.

🟢

Online / offline status — live

A green dot means the agent is active and your rules are being enforced. If it goes offline, you see it immediately.

🥧

Colour-coded screen time pie

Each app your child runs gets a distinct colour. One look and you know whether they spent the afternoon on homework or gaming.

Emergency lock — one tap

Tap Emergency Lock and all internet access cuts off instantly, wherever you are. Useful for dinner, bedtime, or when they won't stop playing.

Guard Desktop is included in Guard Family. Compare to Qustodio at $96/year or Bark at $168/year — Guard Family pays for itself in the first month.

Most parental controls treat the browser as the only threat. But children move between browsers, switch to apps, use private windows, and find workarounds faster than most parents expect.

Guard Desktop works at a deeper level — blocking at the network and process level, not just inside one browser. Steam closes the moment it opens. YouTube is blocked in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and every other browser simultaneously. Bedtime cuts all traffic, not just web traffic.

Real enforcement means it works even when your child is actively trying to bypass it.

// Questions

Things parents ask us.

Can my child uninstall or disable the Windows app?
The agent runs in the background with no visible window. The tray icon is the only visible sign — and attempting to quit from it requires your parent PIN. The app also re-adds itself to Windows startup automatically every time it runs, so even if a child deletes the startup entry, the next launch restores it. Uninstalling requires admin access to the PC, which children typically don't have.
What happens if my child uses a VPN?
Website blocking works at a level that VPNs typically can't bypass. For complete protection, you can also block VPN apps directly — add Mullvad, ExpressVPN, and other common VPN apps to your blocked apps list and they'll be closed the moment they open.
Does my phone need to be online for the rules to work?
No. Rules are synced to the Windows agent and enforced locally. Once you've set up your blocks, schedules, and time limits, they continue working even if your phone has no internet connection. The live dashboard and remote commands require connectivity, but the protection itself never stops.
What does "block any browser" actually mean?
Most parental controls only work inside Chrome. Guard Desktop blocks sites at a deeper level — regardless of which browser your child uses. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, even desktop apps that access the web are all covered.
I forgot my parent PIN. What happens?
Open the Controller app on your phone, go to Settings → Security, and tap "Forgot PIN?" You'll be prompted to set a new one. The Windows agent uses the new PIN automatically — you don't need to touch the child's PC.
Can I manage more than one child / PC?
Yes. Each Windows PC generates its own device ID and pairs independently. From the Controller app you can switch between devices with a single tap. Each child gets their own rules, screen time data, and alert history.
